Massage Therapy spans a wide variety of therapeutic approaches, working to improve and individual's health and well-being. It involves the manipulation of joints and soft tissues (i.e. muscles, skin, connective tissue, tendons and ligaments) using a wide range of techniques: Swedish style massage, hydrotherapy, craniofacial therapy, rhythmic mobilizations, myofascial therapy, remedial exercise & laser therapy. These techniques help reduce and prevent stress, tension, and discomfort of injuries or chronic condition encouraging the body's own natural healing process. (Massage Therapy Act, 1991)
The practice of massage therapy is the assessment of the soft tissue and joints and the treatment and prevention of physical dysfunction and pain of the soft tissue and joints by manipulation to develop, maintain, rehabilitate, or augment physical; function, or relieve pain. Low Intensity Laser Therapy is approved within this Scope of Practice by the Ontario Association of Registered Massage Therapists.
To promote an overall sense of relaxation and well-being, one of the most popular massage techniques used today, Swedish massage has been known to help lower blood pressure, increase circulation, reduce stress and anxiety, promote vitality and energy, alleviate insomnia, relieve headaches, improve skin and muscle tone, increase mental clarity, alleviate general aches and pains, and improve one's overall health. Therapeutic massage is a relaxing way to promote muscle and soft tissue healing. It works by kneading and manipulating damaged muscles. This stimulation relaxes your muscles and increases blood and lymph circulation while releasing the constricting tissues between your muscle fibers. As your muscles begin to relax, inflammation and swelling decrease, helping your joints and muscles work better together, making movement easier and less painful. Massage works to increase your mobilization and metabolism, and enhance joint and muscle function, all of which assist in the healing process.
Massage is administered by Registered Massage Therapists. Lotion is used to
reduce friction to the skin. You will experience faster healing, increased
muscle mobilization, and relaxation from this soothing process.
Therapeutic massage can be an influence in the integration of one's body,
mind, and spirit as it pulls together the physical and spiritual aspects of
our being. It integrates the person with the therapy, and it helps to
relieve the emotional and physical manifestations of stress and tension that
are present in our daily lives. The deep relaxation and healing that often
occur as a result of therapeutic massage make this an excellent choice as
part of a balanced approach to health and wellness.
Whether you are considering massage for stress management, deep-tissue
neuromuscular treatment, injury rehabilitation, prenatal or post-partum
care, or simply to relax and unwind, Aaron Richer R.M.T. will work with you
to create the optimal therapeutic massage plan to meet your needs.

Reflexology is a great therapy to use as a preventative health care measure.
Working or stimulating reflex points in the foot carries through the whole
length of the body. This creates increased blood flow, circulation and
oxygen to all of the cells in your body. Remember, feeling good is
contagious. By reducing tensions and enabling the mind to relax we are able
to be more creative, productive and work with more clarity at difficult
tasks. Reflexology is the key to renewed vitality.
Heather Bennett Certified Reflexologist
A treatment cleanses the body of toxins and impurities. It revitalizes our energy both physically and mentally as energy circulates consciously and unconsciously throughout our system. When the body is well balanced it is in great shape and can more easily ward off any illnesses. Energy needs to be revitalized periodically. Reflexology creates a balance and a sense of renewal throughout the body.
Treatments last one hour in length in a quiet environment. On the first visit we will ask you to fill out a health history form and show you a chart on reflexology and discuss any concerns that you may have. A treatment is different for each person. Some clients fall asleep while others will relax with their eyes closed. There will be some tender spots as the reflexologist presses on the reflex points please inform the reflexologist if the applied pressure needs to be modified allowing you to have a relaxing session.
After the treatment please be kind to your body drink lots of room temperature or warm water to rid your body of the toxins that were released. Also give yourself some stress free time. Each body reacts differently after a treatment some individuals feel energized while others feel tired. Reflexology activates the body's own healing powers so some reaction is inevitable since the body is ridding itself of toxins. When reflexology is practiced correctly it can have many immediate as well as lasting benefits. Reflexology induces relaxation and reduces stress throughout the body. Being in a relaxed state allows all the systems of the body to work more efficiently.

Preparation For Your Visit:
Please bring copies of any relevant medical documents pertaining to your health concerns.
You may wear anything you like for your visit. Loose fitting pants will make knee and hip treatments more comfortable.
Your Initial Visit
Please arrive 10-15 mins early for your first visit, as there will be some forms to fill out prior to your appointment.
The health care professional will ask extensive questions regarding your health history and current complaints.
The information obtained from these procedures will enable the practioner to plan a suitable course of treatment
Length Of Treatments
A normal consultation takes approximately 10-20 minutes to complete. Your first treatment including your initial consultation will last about 45-60 minutes. Subsequent visits will vary with the average being about 30 minutes depending on the nature of your particular condition that day.
Course Of Treatments
The number of treatments necessary depends upon the nature, depth, and seriousness of the condition. Other influencing factors include your response to the treatment and how well you follow the therapist's recommendations. You should notice some positive changes in your health within 4-6 treatments. However, it is important to remember that ever body has a different rate and patter of recovery. Once the course of treatment is complete, you will only need to return if symptoms reoccur, or if new ones develop.
Frequency Of Treatments
The frequency of treatments given varies from individual to individual. At the beginning it may be necessary to treat an individual several times a week. Once your body starts to response, the frequency of treatments will gradually taper, leaving longer intervals between visits.
Post-Treatment Responses
After treatment you may feel sleepy and very relaxed. You should try to get a full night sleep the evening of your treatment; this will enhance the laser therapy's effect on the body's natural healing processes.
